The Zolty urban mobility application arises from the idea of bringing together all the sustainable multi-user transport options, alternatives to the private car and public transport in Barcelona and its metropolitan area. We are talking about joining taxis, VTC, motosharing services and bicycle and scooter rental, all in the same free application.
In order to achieve the initial goal for which Zolty App was conceived, we decided to focus on meeting small, short-term objectives. One of them was to modernize and unify the taxi sector, developing an app that would allow users to choose between a closed-price journey or a taxi meter (with AMB-certified fares), as well as to be able to choose the driver in charge of the service.
From this base, Zolty has currently managed to gather a large fleet of taxis that circulate around Barcelona and its metropolitan area offering this service through the App.
At Crece Agency we have carried out this project in its entirety. We devised from scratch a corporate identity manual (naming, logos, claims, graphic applications) for Zolty App, as well as taking care of all the design and optimization of the user experience of the application, the design and development of the website, the creation and management of social networks and other promotional graphic applications (taxi vinyls, cards, posters, among others).
At first, the client suggested the name “tappxi” to name this application, but from Crece Agency we decided to give it a twist to get a name more in line with all the values that the client needed to convey. Finally, the naming chosen was Zolty. The origin of Zolty is the word Żółty, which in Polish means “yellow”. The fact of choosing a word in Polish makes a small affectionate and humorous wink to its founders, who are all Catalans.
For Zolty’s identity colour, we chose a shade of blue, which is a complement to the “yellow” of the naming. In its logo we decided to include the upper diacritical point characteristic of the Polish alphabet to maintain its origin, while Zolty’s O is divided by a vertical line representing the urban geometry of the Eixample in Barcelona and the Diagonal that crosses it.
Joining these two elements with so much character of the logo (the upper point of the Z and the O with its Barcelona features) we designed the isotype. It’s a symbol that provides a sensation of movement, both through that line that crosses the O, and through the letter itself, which has a tendency to rotate like the wheels of a vehicle. In this way, we can find the line of the O vertically, horizontally or diagonally depending on its application.
